Independence Day 2025 - Hearts In Action

Our 2025 Parade Theme is “Hearts in Action”

Serving Together, Growing Stronger

This year’s parade theme highlights the incredible spirit of community service and the vital role of volunteerism in Audubon. It celebrates the many organizations and individuals who dedicate their time, resources, and energy to making our community a better place for all.

At the heart of Audubon’s volunteer-driven efforts is the Audubon Fathers’ Association (AFA). For over 90 years, the AFA has worked tirelessly to support the youth of our community. From funding enrichment programs and athletic teams to providing scholarships for college-bound students, the AFA’s impact reaches far beyond the classroom. The organization also plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our students by sponsoring breakfast programs, donating food to schools, and providing technology to enhance learning. Through their monthly meetings and ongoing community cleanups, the AFA exemplifies the power of local, volunteer-led efforts in building a strong and united community.

Equally important is Audubon Peer to Peer Aid, a nonprofit organization that connects individuals in need with those who can help. Serving 30 towns across Camden County, this fully volunteer-run organization provides essential services such as food, transportation, and housing support, all funded through local community contributions. Peer to Peer Aid stands as a testament to the strength of community collaboration, where neighbors come together to lift each other up in times of need.

Also playing a key role in fostering community connection is Audubon Civic REACH, a collective dedicated to building a sense of belonging among residents. Under its umbrella are diverse initiatives like the Audubon Celebration Committee (ACC), which organizes hallmark events including Audubon Day, the Fourth of July Parade, and town-wide yard sales. Other initiatives include the Recreation Center, Sustainable Audubon for environmental advocacy, Young At Heart supporting seniors, and our local Audubon Historical Society, and more. These volunteer-driven efforts often rely on donations, sponsorships, and fundraisers to sustain their impact. Audubon Civic REACH is committed to preserving traditions and creating meaningful new ways to bring people together through civic organizations and actions.

The Haviland PTA, Mansion PTA, and Audubon High School PTS also play integral roles in shaping a compassionate, service-oriented community. These organizations fund programs that enhance student learning, facilitate family engagement, and provide critical support for both students and teachers. Whether it’s organizing events, raising funds for educational resources, or building strong connections between parents, teachers, and students, the PTAs foster a sense of unity and shared purpose.

At the high school level, students themselves are actively stepping into service and leadership roles. The AHS Interact Club—a youth extension of Rotary International—is dedicated to community service, leadership development, and fostering international understanding. From organizing food and clothing drives to supporting causes like breast cancer awareness and volunteering with Mothers Matter and the Ronald McDonald House, these students are learning to lead with empathy and action.

Also making a meaningful impact is AHS Project Memorial, a cherished Audubon tradition. Each year, the committee honors six local veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice by hosting a solemn ceremony during the week before Memorial Day. In addition to this tribute, the group raises funds for a scholarship presented at the June graduation ceremony. Project Memorial reflects the values of respect, remembrance, and civic pride while encouraging students to give back to their community and country.

Together, these groups represent the very best of Audubon—volunteers working side by side to strengthen our schools, support our youth, and build a caring, connected community. As we march today, we honor their dedication and invite everyone to join in the spirit of service. Because when we serve together, we grow stronger—one heart, one act, one community at a time.
